How VleesRadar works
VleesRadar is built on one simple promise: fair, comparable meat prices. This page explains exactly how we compile them, so you can trust our figures — and understand their limits.
1. Daily measurements
Every night our automated collectors visit the connected webshops and read the current price, title, packaging and stock status of each product. We do this gently and with respect for the shops' servers. Products that are temporarily unavailable are marked as out of stock.
2. Converting to price per kilo
Shops sell meat in all kinds of units: per piece, per 300 grams, per kilo or in bundles. We read the weight from the product title or data and convert the price back to a single kilo. That lets you compare like with like. If we can't determine the weight reliably, we deliberately show no price per kilo rather than a guess — this prevents misleading outliers.
3. Recognising cut and quality
We link each product to a recognisable cut (such as ribeye, picanha or spareribs) and, where possible, to a quality grade such as standard, Black Angus, dry-aged, wagyu or Iberico. That lets you filter precisely and compare, say, only wagyu with wagyu.
4. Keeping price history
We store every measurement so you can see a product's price trend over days and weeks. A 'deal' that's actually the normal price is exposed instantly. The chart on each product page shows this trend.
Good to know
- Prices can change between two measurements. Always check the final price at the shop before ordering.
- Shipping costs, minimum order amounts and cooling conditions differ per shop and are not included in our price per kilo.
- We don't show non-meat products such as thermometers or gift cards; we filter those out.
